Description

The oval structure measuring 4.3 x 2.3 m was discovered during the 2015 season in Metsamor, Armenia. The interior of the building was filled with stone debris, traces of ash indicates that it was burnt to the ground at the end of the occupation period. While removing the stones from the inside of the structure a burial was brought to light in the south-eastern corner. The tomb was dug into the demolition layer and contained the remains of an adult male. The skeleton (no. 4) was lying on its right side in curved position. The only object discovered in the grave was a bronze ring made of twisted bronze wire. According to the burial custom and stratigraphy the grave can be dated to the Classical Period; 1st century B.C. – 1st century A.D.
