This year’s 'Poles in the Near East' conference was held in the Institute of Archaeology of the University of Warsaw between the 7th and 9th June. Among the distinguished guests was H.E. Mr. Edgar Ghazaryan, ambassador of Armenia to Poland, along with Mr Ara Tarverdzyan and Mr Karen Pahlevanyan, director and deputy director of the ‘Service for the Protection of Historical Environment and Cultural Museum-Reservations’ of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia. On the third day of the conference, a whole panel was dedicated to research at Metsamor. Presentations included Prof Ashot Piliposyan’s 'The Late Bronze Age golden pendant from Metsamor and its Ancient Near Eastern parallels', Prof Krzysztof Jakubiak’s 'The Metsamor society up against the conquest. New facts from recent research', Artavazd Zakyan’s 'Archaeological artifacts from kurgans of Metsamor cemetery (aspects of periodization)', Mateusz Iskra’s 'Metsamor in flames. The determination of a range and form of the site destruction based on available data', Hasmik Simonyan’s 'The examination of anthropological materials from the urban area of Metsamor', Kinga Bigoraj’s 'The zooarchaeological remains from Metsamor' and Otto Bagi’s 'The Landscape Survey of Metsamor: Phase Two'.
